At Coburg Chinese Medicine, I believe that the cost of healthcare matters. Acupuncture shouldn't be unnecessarily expensive, particularly when people are already managing the rising costs of everyday life.

As an independent acupuncture and Chinese medicine practitioner, I run a small, single-practitioner clinic on Sydney Road in Coburg. Keeping the clinic small helps me maintain lower operating costs than a larger, multi-practitioner practice. This allows me to offer acupuncture at reasonable fees while giving patients the time and attention needed for their appointments.

My aim is to provide accessible, professional Chinese medicine care without unnecessary expense or complicated pricing.

How much does acupuncture cost?

I believe patients should know what to expect financially before booking an appointment.

My standard acupuncture fees are:

Initial acupuncture consultation — $115

Up to 60 minutes. This appointment allows time to discuss your health concerns, review your medical history, explain the proposed treatment and provide acupuncture where appropriate.

Ongoing acupuncture appointment — $87

Up to 45 minutes. For patients returning for further consultation and treatment.

Extended initial acupuncture appointment — $135

Up to 90 minutes, for consultations where additional time may be required.

Concession fees are also available. Please contact the clinic to discuss eligibility and current rates.

Why are your acupuncture fees lower?

Running a single-practitioner clinic has some advantages.

I don't have the same staffing and administrative costs as a larger clinic, and I prefer to keep the way I practise relatively straightforward.

Rather than building a large practice with numerous practitioners, I've chosen to maintain a smaller clinic where patients see the same practitioner at each appointment.

Keeping overheads manageable allows me to offer ongoing acupuncture appointments at $87, while maintaining the time allocated to each consultation.

For me, affordability isn't about rushing appointments or offering unnecessary treatment packages. It's about providing clear fees and allowing patients to make informed decisions about their healthcare.

Private health insurance and concession fees

If you have private health insurance with acupuncture included in your extras cover, you may be eligible for a rebate. The amount depends on your fund, your policy and your remaining annual benefits. I can provide the information required for you to claim an eligible rebate from your health fund.

Concession rates are also available for eligible patients. You're welcome to contact the clinic before booking if you'd like to discuss fees.

A practical approach to acupuncture

I try to keep consultations straightforward. That means listening to your concerns, explaining what I'm proposing and why, and discussing treatment options in language that's easy to understand.

I also recognise that healthcare costs can accumulate, particularly when people are attending several different healthcare providers. I'll discuss the proposed treatment plan with you, including whether further appointments may be appropriate, so you can make decisions based on your circumstances and preferences.

There's no expectation that you commit to a treatment package or an ongoing schedule of appointments.
